Black Authors Fiction TBR - Part 1.

Image
hello everyone!  I had such a great time putting together my ' 11 Non-fiction Books about BLM that I plan to read TBR ' that I am now back with a similar list for fiction novels!! Most of these titles are YA (young adult) fiction and mostly new releases. A few also tie in well with June being Pride month as they have LGBTQIA+ representation.  These have come from recommendations on Twitter and Instagram, as well as research I have done into recently published black written novels. I have plans in a few weeks to share a compilation post containing LOADS of Black Lives Matter links, including fellow bloggers posts and reviews, book lists, black owned businesses and resources; where you will find many of the books I am going to be recommending plus lots more!  I have decided to make this post into two parts as my TBR is long, and all the books on this list had a red/orange/pink colour theme which I thought looked good together :)  1. HOUSECUP-A-THON : WEEK 2 UPDATE!!

Image
Hello everyone (You can find my Week 1 update here ) Week 2 of the House cup read -a-thon really flew by and I had a terrible reading week. I only managed to read 1 short book and a play and I feel very unmotivated right now to make content or read anything. I have lots of ideas in the pipeline but I am currently unsure of when and if they will make an appearance here. As a blogger I am also very passionate about self-care and listening to your feelings before anything else, and my life has become more stressful and busy lately. Reading is still my self-care but I cannot keep the same pace as I was in previous weeks. I am struggling to manage more than about 45 minutes or a handful of pages a day/in the evenings at the moment and after working evenings, I come home and eat a late tea before swiftly falling asleep. I am going to try and keep up with my blog content as best I can this week but I am not in the position to make any promises! Anyway, on with the books..... WEEK 2 White Frag

11 Non-fiction Books about BLM that I plan to read (TBR) !!

Hello everyone.  🖤 My plan for June and every month going forward is to use my blog and my social media following to write and share posts about the Black Lives Matter movement and to use my passion for books to promote Black authors and educational books about racism and BLM.  I am willing to admit that I have read very little non-fiction about racism in the UK or US, police brutality or anti-racism, but I plan to buy and read as many as I can from now on. All of the books that are going to feature in this post are books that have been recommended to me buy fellow bloggers or that I have seen on Twitter and Instagram posts and decided to research. Therefore I have not read any yet - this is in effect  MY ANTI-RACISM TBR!!! It's quite long but there's so many amazing books that I have found that I want to share.  .................... #1  'SO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT RACE' - IJEOMA OLUO This book addresses the topics of white privilege, police brutality, racist language a

Reviews & Read-a-thons: Plans for June

Image
Hello everyone 🌴 and welcome to the first of a new monthly post that I will be doing, where I talk about my TBR, any events or read-a-thons that I am participating in during the month and just a bit of a chatty update!!! I have 3 main things going on in June in regards to reading. 2 read-a-thons and a book club read, which across the 3 makes up most of my TBR for this month! I'll link to things along the way if you fancy getting involved and discuss what I'm going to be reading for each one.  As well as these 3 events I also have two reviews going up in June for books that I have been kindly sent for free to review by the authors. Both absolutely fantastic reads. Keep your eyes peeled for those! #1 - Let's Get Classical  Book Club This wonderful group of readers has been set up by Jessica aka 'Stuck in The Book' in order to help and encourage people to enjoy classic literature. This is the first month of the read along and I'm super excited!!!  Each month we ch
